What to Wear to Your Engagement Session

Coordinate without matching. Pick a color palette (two to three colors that complement each other) rather than wearing identical outfits. Jewel tones, neutrals, and earth tones photograph beautifully in studio lighting.

Avoid large logos, busy patterns, or clothes you are not fully comfortable in. If you are self-conscious about a top or feel restricted in a skirt, that discomfort will show in every photo.

Book your engagement session 2–3 months before your wedding. This gives you time to receive and review photos, use them for invitations and social announcements, and refine your communication with the photographer before your wedding day.

Avoid the weeks immediately before the wedding — you want to be relaxed and well-rested during your engagement shoot, not stressed about final preparations.

What to Expect on Shoot Day

Arrive 10–15 minutes early. If makeup is included, the session starts with the styling phase — typically 1 to 1.5 hours. The photoshoot itself follows, with your photographer directing poses and encouraging natural interaction between you.
